Shelby Mechanical was selected as the commercial plumbing contractor for a ground-up Chick-fil-A location in Lincoln Park, MI. This project required a comprehensive installation from underground through final connections, delivering a complete, code-compliant plumbing system designed to support a high-volume restaurant operation.
Full Plumbing Installation – Ground-Up Build
Our team completed all phases of this ground-up plumbing installation, including underground, rough-in, and finish work. By coordinating closely with general contractors and other trades, we ensured an efficient build process and met all project timelines. Shelby Mechanical was responsible for all core plumbing systems throughout the facility.
Sanitary & Waste Systems
The sanitary system was designed to support both customer-facing and back-of-house operations. Our work included:
- (3) Toilets and (1) urinal with flush valves
- Multiple lavatories with mixing valves and protective trap wraps
- Future rough-in for an additional toilet and wall-mounted lavatory
- A full network of floor drains, floor sinks, and cleanouts installed per print
- SureSeal trap inserts to prevent sewer gas and odor issues
This system was built for durability, accessibility, and long-term performance in a demanding commercial setting.
Grease Waste & Kitchen Plumbing
To support kitchen operations, Shelby Mechanical installed an extensive grease waste system and completed connections for a variety of owner-supplied fixtures and equipment. Scope included:
- Floor drains, trench drains, and floor sinks tied into the grease system
- Water and drain connections for hand sinks, prep sinks, and a four-compartment sink
- Indirect waste connections to maintain health code compliance
- Installation of a mop sink faucet and dump sink rough-in
- Dedicated piping for beverage, ice maker, and specialty kitchen equipment
All work was carefully coordinated to meet strict restaurant and health department standards.
Water Distribution & Equipment Connections
We installed a complete commercial-grade water distribution system, including:
- 60-gallon gas water heater with recirculation system
- Backflow prevention systems (RPZ, PRV, and irrigation protection)
- Booster pump for consistent water pressure
- Filtered water lines for beverage equipment
- Utility water connections including hose bibs and emergency eyewash
This system ensures reliable water flow, safety, and efficiency across the entire building.
Specialty Systems & Gas Piping
Our team also completed multiple specialty plumbing systems, including:
- Commercial gas piping installation (up to 3” diameter)
- CO₂ and oil piping systems
- Beverage system chase piping
- Condensate drain lines for rooftop HVAC units
All systems were seamlessly integrated into the building’s overall infrastructure.
Materials, Permits & Site Work
All drainage and vent piping was installed using SCH40 PVC, with CPVC for water distribution. Shelby Mechanical handled all required plumbing permits, gas permits, excavation, and site work, ensuring full compliance with local and state codes.
