Shelby Mechanical was an essential part of the renovation team for the transformation of a former gym into a high-end fitness facility located in Troy, Michigan. Starting in March 2024 and completing in February 2025, our team worked closely with other contractors and project managers to ensure seamless coordination and timely completion of all plumbing and gas work.
Key plumbing work included:
- Bathroom & Locker Room Renovation: Replaced (10) flush valve toilets and (5) urinals, while reusing existing drains and water supply. Upgraded (20) lavatory faucets, ensuring secure and leak-free connections. Installed (1) wall-mounted sink with faucet, providing modern, high-performance fixtures throughout the facility.
- Juice Bar: Installed (2) mop sinks with faucets per design specifications. Integrated (6) floor drains and (4) floor sinks, all with sure seal inserts. Prepared plumbing connections for (3) kitchen equipment sinks. Installed (1) grease trap for waste management.
- Laundry Room: Replaced (2) water heaters and (2) expansion tanks. Installed drain trough for washing machines. Installed a new gas line to service water heaters and dryers.
- Spa Area: Installed (5) spa sinks, ensuring proper drain and water supply connections. Replaced (1) toilet and (1) wall-mounted lavatory sink and faucet.
- Drinking Fountains: Replaced (6) drinking fountains with a new model featuring a bottle filler for enhanced convenience and sustainability.
Additional work included:
- Running new water and drain lines throughout the facility to support the renovation.
- Installing a new backflow preventer for water safety and compliance.
- Installing a new 6” to 8” storm drains in (4) locations as per the project’s design specifications.
- Performing extensive gas work, including reconnecting 14 rooftop units (RTUs) to the existing gas line, and running new gas lines to service additional RTUs and equipment.
Throughout the project, all work was executed with the highest standards of quality and efficiency. Shelby Mechanical delivered a high-quality, code-compliant plumbing installation that met the client’s expectations. We maintained close communication with the project team and ensured that each phase passed city inspections without issue.
